Senior Neighbourhood Services Officer – Help Build a Stronger Community!

Imagine walking through the heart of Lambeth, knowing that each day, you're playing a crucial role in making the neighbourhood a better place to live. As a Senior Neighbourhood Services Officer, you won’t just be part of a team – you'll be a key figure in shaping vibrant, thriving communities where people feel safe, supported, and proud of where they live.

This resident-led organisation manages over 1,700 homes in Lambeth. Housing here is about people – their lives, their hopes, their futures. The Senior Neighbourhood Services Officer role offers an opportunity to create a lasting positive impact through housing and community services.

Role Overview – A Day in the Life
Each day brings a new opportunity to make a difference. The morning might start with connecting with local residents, listening to their concerns, and helping to resolve tenancy issues. Whether guiding someone through the process of moving into a new home, managing anti-social behaviour cases with empathy, or supporting a vulnerable resident by linking them with essential services, the role is centred on trust and service.

Throughout the day, the Senior Neighbourhood Services Officer will be out on the estate, inspecting properties, attending resident meetings, and collaborating with partners like the local authority and police to ensure the neighbourhood remains a safe and welcoming place. The role is about being proactive, hands-on, and approachable while delivering exceptional service.

This position involves being a community champion, helping to build stronger ties between residents and creating spaces where they feel heard and supported. Challenges like rent arrears, domestic violence, or tenancy breaches will be addressed with a problem-solving mindset, ensuring swift and compassionate action.

The Benefits
The organisation is committed to investing in employees just as much as in the community. The benefits offered include:

  • Generous Annual Leave: Starting with 27 days of annual leave, increasing to 32 days after five years of service.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Access to a comprehensive health plan, including dental care, optical treatments, 24/7 GP consultations, and discounted gym memberships.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexibility to buy or sell up to 5 days of annual leave per year, helping to balance personal and professional commitments.
  • Financial Security: A Defined Contribution Pension Scheme with up to 8% employer matching to help secure a stable financial future.
  • Professional Growth: Professional development grants are available, enabling continuous learning and career progression.
  • Staff Bonus Scheme: Recognising hard work with a one-off annual bonus for contributions to the organisation.

Candidate Profile
This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of experience in housing or neighbourhood services who is passionate about making a tangible difference. The ideal candidate should be familiar with housing management systems (experience with Northgate is advantageous) and possess excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.

Being adaptable and proactive is essential, as this role involves engaging with residents, responding to issues, and managing multiple priorities with empathy. A strong customer focus and a commitment to building better communities are key.

Next Steps
The role of Senior Neighbourhood Services Officer offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of a neighbourhood and improve lives. This position is for those who are ready to step into a dynamic environment, where no two days are the same, and each day brings the chance to make a difference.
