Are you an experienced Licensing Enforcement Officer looking for your next challenge?

We’re working with a forward-thinking local authority in London that is seeking an experienced Licensing Enforcement Officer to join their busy regulatory services team on an interim basis.

If you have a strong background in licensing, enforcement, and community safety, this is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact in a high-profile area of local government.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out proactive and reactive enforcement work across all licensing regimes, including alcohol, entertainment, gambling, taxis/private hire, and street trading.
  • Investigate complaints and breaches of licence conditions and take appropriate enforcement action in line with council policy and legislation.
  • Undertake compliance inspections of licensed premises, events, and vehicles.
  • Prepare reports, statements, and case files, and represent the council at licensing hearings, courts, and public inquiries as required.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, police, and partner agencies to support public safety and community wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a licensing enforcement or regulatory services role, ideally within a local authority.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation including the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005 and Street Trading experience.
  • Strong investigative and enforcement skills, with experience preparing enforcement notices and legal case files.
  • Confident communicator with excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable, but not essential depending on borough).

Why Apply?

  • Competitive day rate with weekly payroll options.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working.
  • Opportunity to work on high-profile and varied cases in a dynamic urban environment.
  • Immediate start for the right candidate.
