I am incredibly proud to announce that Oyster has been awarded the prestigious Platinum recognition by Investors in People (IIP). This achievement marks a significant milestone in our journey, reflecting our commitment to fostering an exceptional workplace culture and prioritising our team's wellbeing.

Investors in People, for those who may not be familiar, is a global entity that evaluates businesses based on rigorous criteria, with their core mission to “Make Work Better.” The evaluation focuses on various aspects of our operations, leadership, and workplace environment, measuring an organisation’s ability to lead and support staff. The process involves audits, questionnaires, and assessments conducted by IIP auditors, along with anonymous feedback from our own staff members.

Our journey with Investors in People dates back to 2017. At that time, we were undergoing substantial changes within the organisation and were keen to understand how our staff perceived these transformations. Going through the process with IIP wasn’t solely about seeking validation externally but also about ensuring that our team recognised and acknowledged these changes. The process involved required considerable investment, both in terms of time and resources.

In 2017, we became accredited with Investors in People, followed by achieving the Gold level in our subsequent application. Reaching Platinum in 2023 has been a huge honour, joining only the 6% of businesses worldwide who have managed to reach this recognition.

In reflecting on our strengths, reports showed we excelled in our commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, notably through our charity engagement and dedicated ambassadors. Our high staff engagement across charity events and a clear ED&I strategy supporting fairer representation of candidates in the workplace were particularly highlighted as areas of success. This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment, while striving for continuous improvement.

As the CEO of Oyster, this recognition is a very proud moment for me. All I’ve ever wanted to do is look after my people and do what is right for them – I want this place to be somewhere that people are happy, inspired and challenged, as well as tested and rewarded. To be recognised for this on a global platform is a huge moment for me.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in this achievement. Hannah Clarke, our Director of People and Operations, and Connie Priestley, my amazing PA and Office Manager - you both provided invaluable support and put in considerable effort throughout this process. Additionally, I want to thank the whole of the Oyster team. This achievement is a collective effort, where every individual, past, and present, has contributed their share, whether directly or indirectly.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Excited for what the future holds!
